Is There Room for Love in Entrepreneurship?
In the past, I co-founded a startup with a boyfriend. It was really hard, and to be honest, I don’t think I was mature enough to balance the whole “mixing business with pleasure” thing. (You can read more about that here).
Years later, I tried to run another startup and maintain a relationship with a new boyfriend (who had his own job). Even that was challenging, though. I just couldn’t seem to get the whole work/life balance thing down in such a way that appealed to both my personal goals and my partner’s relationship needs.
So it made me wonder…
Is it really possible to hold down an intimate relationship and run a successful business at the same time?
Well, I decided to ask my good friend, Michael Perry. Michael’s built three startups and last year, his latest company, Kit, sold to Shopify, the #1 e-commerce site in the world! Not only that, Michael accomplished this while maintaining a loving, committed relationship with his girlfriend-turned-wife. But how in the world did he do it?! I asked, and Michael authentically answered.
